DIY Coffee Body Scrub Recipe You Will Love!
So, I’ll admit it. My love for coffee delves deeper than my necessary wake-up beverage. In my experience, I have found that coffee has so many wonderful benefits. Unfortunately, I’m not talking about all of those delicious mochas and pumpkin spice lattes! I typically drink about 2-4 cups of black coffee per day. When not overdone, coffee can reduce your risk of diabetes, help you avoid Alzheimer’s disease, and fight depression. All the more reason to brew a cup, if you ask me!
While I typically consume it, I would like to share with you a new way I’ve started using coffee. I began making this coffee body scrub a few months ago, and I love it! While coffee has great long-term health benefits, it’s also a great product to add into your cosmetic routine. Specifically, coffee can help reduce cellulite, and it exfoliates your skin. Usually, I keep a mason jar of this scrub in my shower and use it regularly. Originally, I found this scrub here. Regardless, I’ve altered it slightly overtime, and below is my own version. I decided to choose a sugar scrub over a salt scrub because grains of salt can sometimes be harsh on certain skin types. Furthermore, for our zero waste fanatics, you can also prepare this scrub with used coffee grounds from your morning brew. Scrub it all over, and enjoy!
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1 cup of white sugar
- 1/4 cup of ground coffee (Alternatively, you can use grounds from your morning brew. If they are still wet, you may need to compensate with less oil.)
- 1/3-1/2 cup of oil (I use olive oil. I’m sure others would work fine, though!)
- Combine all of the ingredients in a mason jar, and mix well. Begin with 1/3 cup of oil. If it doesn’t mix well, add a little extra until the mixture is just held together.
- I encourage you to leave this scrub in your shower, and use it generously. Rinse after you apply it. Your skin will love you!
